Through the use of general creative writing techniques Program 2, Description will break down the limits of the descriptive faculties into clear categories. Attendees are expected to have a firm grasp of Lem’s Prognolinguistics as well as an active fiction writing practice.

	Self-reflection can’t trace origins. Motive is always in the process of being overgrown. It is taken for granted that the reasons for our generally repetitive behavior are self-evident — of course they are not. &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; 
Using both Diachronic Causation Simulation (D.C.S.) as well as Synchronic Causation Simulation (S.C.S.) Program 1, Habits will explore psychological pattern formation both by a singular event as well as its development over time.

	A schematic is a shield against the violence of the variable. &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; This is true and obvious for the dogmatic schema of religions, but it is also true for machines and mechanical productions (whether Capitalist or Socialist). Theologies when contrasted to general mechanization have much more in common than the throngs of yelping townsfolk would have you believe — mainly the attempt at automating behavior to secure a future. &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; 
Program 3, Schema hopes to introduce a new discourse for the comparison of these two nodes. The discussion will commence with a comparison of various O'Reilly Media instruction manuals (Erlang Programming and JavaScript) with a recent translation of the Bhagavad Gita.

CONTEXT:&#38;nbsp;
A Bold New Era

Talbott is a prominent hotel in the affluent Gold Coast of Chicago, IL. After being purchased by a new ownership group, my team and I were brought on to develop a brand identity for the hotel to transition to an Autograph. Their aim as a reimagined and highly sought-after hotel needed an identity that was wholly unique as well as connected to the city’s people, history of art, and culture.

THE CHALLENGE: 
Talbott Takes Gold
The Gold Coast of Chicago is a highly affluent area with stiff competition in the hospitality space. This historic neighborhood is home to numerous high-end hotels, each offering unique luxury experiences. Competitors like Thompson Chicago, Eurostars Magnificent Mile, 21C Museum Hotel, and Viceroy Chicago cater to diverse and discerning travelers. Talbott Hotel must stand out amidst these well-established brands by delivering exceptional service and a distinctive, memorable experience that reflects the upscale charm of the Gold Coast.

THE CONCEPT: 
A Gold Coast State of Mind
Every memorable story begins with great characters, and Talbott is no exception. Since 1927, the story of Talbott has been written and rewritten countless times. But as decades passed and trends evolved, the one constant in the story of Talbott has been the people. The recurring guests. The indelible staff. The ones who called Talbott a home away from home. Today, Talbott continues with new narrators, new voices, and new stories. Talbott isn’t solely a story of the Gold Coast or a historic building; it is a story of people.

From the idea of inviting guests to live out their own narratives at Talbott and the city, we took an approach to design as dynamic as Chicago itself. There are many ways to tell a story. For decades writing, painting, music, and dance all have expressed the human story.

 For the design, I hand-painted different elements to be used throughout the collateral suite. I chose fonts that feel literary but contemporary and added a handwritten accent font for special touches and messaging. Minding the importance of the human touch in the brand identity.

The ArchetypeThe Archetype at Talbott Hotel creates a unique and memorable signature moment for guests. Inspired by the hotel's rich history and the vibrant culture of Chicago's Gold Coast, it is designed to attract attention and spark conversation. It embodies the hotel's brand through interactive and engaging experiences, using spaces, people, or objects within the hotel. This distinctive approach enhances the guest experience, ensuring that Talbott stands out in the competitive hospitality market.

Talbott Chicago is currently preparing for rennovation with the Studio 11 interior design group. It will open to the public with its new self 2025.

CONTEXT:&#38;nbsp;
A New Touchpoint

Sandbourne is a premier hotel situated in the vibrant Santa Monica area of Los Angeles County, known for its competitive hospitality landscape with iconic properties such as Shutters on the Beach right next door. Recently transitioning from a JW Marriott to an Autograph Collection hotel, Sandbourne sought a new brand identity that would distinguish it in this illustrious setting. My team and I were entrusted with this transformation, crafting a brand concept that is an art all its own in a market dominated by passive luxury and tired icons.

Crowded Shores

Santa Monica in Los Angeles County hosts a competitive array of luxury hotels, including Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, Fairmont Miramar, and Casa del Mar. These competitors emphasize traditional luxury but often lack a deeper, more engaging experience. Sandbourne aims to stand out by offering unparalleled service and a unique, memorable stay. Focusing on a tactile, sensory-rich environment that stimulates creativity and interaction, Sandbourne appeals to young affluent families, millennial travelers with resources, and creative professionals, providing a profound alternative to the passive luxury of its competitors.

Staying true to Sandbourne's focus on the sensory experience of touch, our approach to design revolves around offering a physically engaging, lively blend of elements that echo the dynamic spirit of Santa Monica.
For our design materials, we worked with an exciting array of techniques like embossing and debossing to invoke a tangible, three-dimensional effect. Mixing in various textured papers reflected the diversity inherent to Sandbourne. Adding an interactive touch, we introduced thermochromic paper that shifts its color upon contact.
When it came to fonts, we primarily used minimalistic sans-serif types for their clean, contemporary feel. To anchor these, we chose an elegant serif font to effectively convey Sandbourne's brand tone. The hotel's distinct logo mark is inspired by a unique mirror found in every room, merged subtly with abstract representations of shore-lines.
This overall tactile approach to design enhances Sandbourne's brand identity and pays homage to our key tenet of engaging with the sense of touch.

Inspired by the hotel's tactile, sensory-rich brand concept, this activation is designed to draw inspiration and engage creativity. This activation embodies Sandbourne's identity through interactive and engaging pottery experiences by the pool or at the beach. Guided by expert potters, guests can mold clay and craft their own keepsakes, enhancing their stay with a distinctive, artistic touch. This approach not only enriches the guest experience but also firmly establishes Sandbourne as a leader in innovative and immersive hospitality.

Designed by Gulla Jónsdóttir, the 175-room hotel features natural textures, sculptural elements, and engaging amenities like a heated pool, fitness center, event spaces, and an upcoming wellness spa. Unique offerings such as an on-site dog park, ceramics classes, and Marelle restaurant by Chef Raphael Lunetta enhance the guest experience. Sandbourne aims to blend coastal relaxation with urban excitement, setting a new standard in Santa Monica.

Hotel Melby is an extraordinary hub in Melbourne, FL, where the extraordinary worlds of archaeology, airplane travel, aboriginal art, graffiti street art, and space exploration converge. Each of these themes feeds into a potent, dynamic melting pot of experiences unique to our hotel. The challenge was to turn our eclectic collection of themes into a cohesive, meaningful story.
Our goal was to move beyond the norm, to offer a depth of experience that was not just luxurious but fascinating, engaging, and immersive. We strove to breathe life into Hotel Melby by richly integrating our diverse themes into a dynamic web of interactions that resonated with our broad array of guests- from the space industry professionals and art enthusiasts to coastal vacationers and wedding travelers.

As the branding team behind Hotel Melby, we designed an environment that echoes Melbourne's eclectic spirit, creating a sensory journey through the use of raw and refined materials. The interplay of wood and stone against sleek metals and glass mirrors the city's balance between nature and urban development, creating intrigue and inviting discovery. Inspired by local landmarks and Christopher Maslow's vibrant graffiti artistry, we incorporated symbols and elements into the design. These layers, akin to those uncovered in an archeological dig or a graffiti-filled wall, encourage guests to explore not just our hotel, but also the city's artistic and cultural essence at their own pace.

Dua Miami is a luxury hotel nestled in the dynamic Brickell district of Miami, renowned for its competitive hospitality landscape that's peppered with iconic properties like EAST Miami, W Miami, and Kimpton Epic, among others. Recently making its grand transition from the renowned SLS to an Autograph Collection hotel, Dua Miami poised itself for a fresh brand identity that sets it distinctively apart in this illustrious arena. My team and I were tasked with this transformation, handcrafting a brand concept that creatively stands out in a market saturated with predictable luxury and shallow engagement.

Navigating the dance of rebranding from SLS to the Autograph Collection, the challenge lay in crafting a distinct brand, while maintaining symbiosis with the existing, modestly renovated interior design. The innovative brand had to engage in a subtle tango with the past and present, creating an appealing visual rhythm without a radical overhaul—all while still forging a strong distinctive impression in the Miami market.&#38;nbsp;

meaning Love and Desire, both personal indulgence
and heartfelt connections are equally celebrated.
Dua delivers an experience that is an interplay
between love’s depth and desire’s intensity, against
the backdrop of the dynamic Brickell district. In the
heart of Dua’s unique rhythm lie the seen and unseen
needs of guests, where the presence of being is
palpable and charged with attentive confidence.
It fosters an enriching environment that delicately
balances enlivening social interactions with personal
fulfillment. It’s not about choosing between love or
desire; it’s about experiencing both and exploring
the richness and allure of their dance.

The Dream Cache at Dua Miami Brickell offers an engaging and interactive concept for guests. Located in the lobby, it invites guests to share their wishes and aspirations during their stay using curated cards. Each day, staff select a wish from the cache and fulfill it within 24 hours, creating a memorable and personalized experience. The process can be live-streamed or shared on social media, adding an element of anticipation and community involvement. This activation not only enhances guest engagement but also reinforces Dua’s commitment to creating unique, heartfelt connections.

Vibrant Evolution

Dua Miami, a shining star in Brickell, is currently being skillfully reimagined by the EoA, an esteemed interior design team. The ongoing revamp is meticulously weaving our brand's unique ethos - the contrast of singular, chic monochrome luxury with the dynamic vibrancy of the Brickell spirit - into the very fabric of our interiors.
Once the transformation is complete, these dynamic spaces will embrace the engaging blend of natural textures, sculptural elements, and a captivating interplay of black-and-white sophistication alongside vibrant hues. The upgrades extend to a collection of premium amenities, including a heated pool, an advanced fitness center, expansive event spaces, and an upcoming wellness spa to serve as a sanctuary of relaxation. Unique elements such as dog-friendly spaces, interactive classes, and a gourmet journey at our in-house restaurant, promise to enrich our guest experience further.

Refreshing the Narrative

Positioned in the bustling heart of Cleveland, Hotel Cleveland was in a demanding hospitality market, with formidable competitors like The Metropolitan at The 9 sharing the cityscape. The hotel had embarked on a significant structural revamp to encapsulate the city's unique spirit and history but was struggling with fragmented branding ideas and lacked a coherent identity.

My team and I were brought in to tackle this challenging task. We were entrusted with uniting these sporadic thoughts into an integrated, compelling brand narrative that paid homage to the rich tapestry of Cleveland's past, present, and future. We aimed to transform these disconnected elements into a unified, engaging brand identity for Hotel Cleveland.
In a marketplace teeming with indistinguishable offerings, we needed a brand story for Hotel Cleveland that stands out. To embody authenticity, embrace a respected legacy, and exemplify the vitality of the city, distinguishing it from its competitors as an unequivocal testament to Cleveland's distinctive character and heritage.

Our hotel is shaped by the same dynamics that shape the city itself; we honor the roots that have forged its spirited foundation and rich cultural legacy. Serving as a central hub for its evolving story, we offer experiences that connect guests with the city’s genuine character, sharing stories of Clevelanders past and present, while inviting guests to become part of our unfolding future. Hotel Cleveland champions the city it calls home and celebrates the grand story of how cultures are born, grow, and flourish.

In line with Hotel Cleveland's emphasis on authenticity and the importance of its historic roots, our design philosophy revolved around encapsulating the true essence of the property. We meticulously carried out an on-site environmental study of the hotel, noting the myriad of hues, textures, and architectural details that make it unique. These observations were then distilled into a color palette and design framework that drew directly from the hotel's unique environment.
With a focus on upholding the classic and historic appeal of the hotel, we kept the font selection distinctly traditional. Classic typefaces were opted for, bringing an elegant timelessness to our visual language, harmoniously combining the old and new.
Lastly, the hotel's unique logo was crafted to mirror the same authenticity. Inspired by the hotel's historic elements, it consciously encapsulates the establishment's rich past. Such a detailed approach to design highlights Hotel Cleveland's brand identity, paying homage to its genuine connection to the city's history and culture.

SIGNATURE ACTIVATION: 
Tell-Tale Tiles

We enhanced the Hotel Cleveland experience with NFC-enabled tiles and a Storybook Monument in the lobby. These NFC allow guests to access Cleveland's stories with their smartphones. Located throughout the hotel, these interactions provide audio or visual narratives of the city's history, culture, and future. The content is dynamic, changing with events or seasons, and encourages guests to share their own stories of Cleveland. This approach fosters a deeper connection to Cleveland, making each stay a unique and memorable experience.

This idyllic paradise, unsullied by over-development, only received electricity in the '90s, adding an untouched charm to the region populated by traditional fishermen and farmers. The area’s vibrant local culture is preserved and admired, perfect for the curious, discerning traveler seeking something different. Unlike its bustling, over-commercialized counterparts, Las Terrenas has successfully retained its authentic roots.

The hotel aims to breathe life into every aspect of its far-flung location, offering an unparalleled service, generation-spanning luxury, and an immersive experience steeped in rich local culture. Yet, making Donoma an irresistible appeal to the Family Voyagers, Romantic Explorers, and Global Travelers remains a significant task. The journey may part of the adventure, but ensuring that this remote oasis is viewed not as an inconvenience, but the key to a rich tapestry of uniquely Dominican experiences, is a challenge that lies ahead.

We inspire guests to dare for the extraordinary, be it a meandering walk on the sun-kissed beach at dawn, an electrifying cycle through the tropical forest, or an intimate interaction with the rich, local culture. We celebrate our roots, soaked in the warm Caribbean sun and stirred by a multicultural cocktail of local and international influences, presenting a vibrant and authentic connection to the soul of Las Terrenas.

Our creative journey for Donoma Las Terrenas Beach Hotel &#38;amp; Spa began with immersing ourselves in the vibrant hues and rich tapestry of Las Terrenas. Inspired by the warmth of the sand and the rhythm of the ocean, we spun a design theme that captures the tactile essence of the location. We chose contemporary typographic styles, encapsulating Las Terrenas’ dynamic vibe. At the heart of our visual design language reigns the logo, an emblem of the radiant sun, that mirrors our site’s breathtaking natural beauty. Weaving in a deeper layer of symbolism, Donoma translates to ‘the sight of the sun,’ harmoniously tying back our name to the spirit of the logo.

In the wake of the pandemic and management upheavals, the future of The Queen Mary, once a celebrated symbol of transatlantic travel, faced an uncertain future. However, the city of Long Beach, California, made a decisive move to not merely salvage this maritime icon, but to transform it into a beacon of timeless elegance and heritage on the Southern California Coast.&#38;nbsp;

The paramount task in visually rebranding The Queen Mary was to restore her to her former splendor of Streamline Moderne design, but with a contemporary edge. We aimed to strike a balance between her glorious history and the present-day expectations of style and vibrancy.
Relentless in our pursuit of authenticity, we replaced the "retro-like" elements in favor of true Streamline Moderne fonts—to the point of taking the actual lettering off the side of the sip and creating a signature font suite for all Queen’s wayfinding signage. In doing so, we brought forward the elegance and equilibrium that are the hallmarks of Streamline Moderne designs, significantly elevating The Queen Mary's brand aesthetics.
Additionally, while past representations of the brand concentrated on the facade's white, red, and black palette, we saw an opportunity to show off the ship's interior richness. We sought to spotlight the vibrant array of colors and textures within this grand dame's walls. This shift not only complements her facelift but further highlights her interior elegance and gives her a much-deserved moment in the spotlight.

The visual language of The Queen Mary is deeply rooted in the aesthetic of Art Deco Streamline Moderne, capturing the ship’s historical authenticity and grandeur. In an twist, we’re building on that foundation by integrating Artificial Intelligence to carry the ship’s intrinsic style into all design materials, reflecting the vibrant cultural history and artistic richness of the era. This approach allows us to tap into The Queen Mary’s innovative spirit, essentially style-matching these designs to the actual pieces of art found within the ship, thereby ensuring an immersive and captivating experience that mirrors the ship’s iconic aesthetic, while making the past compellingly present.
